NEW LONDON, Conn. - The men's track and field 4x800 was named CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week for winning the Division III New England Championship and setting a school record.
The men's 4x800 of senior William Klein (1:57.5), sophomore Benjamin Taminger (1:53.9), senior Caleb Teachout (1:54.6) and junior Brett Foster (1:51.9) earned the Bears their second straight Division III New England Championship in the race as they crossed the line in 7:38.05 distancing themselves from the second place team by more than four seconds. The time also sets a new school record and they become the first team in program history to break 7:40 in the relay.
They are now ranked nintth among all NCAA New England schools, ranked 59th among all NCAA schools and it looks like they are the top Divion III team in the country in the event right now.
The Bears are back in action next weekend at the Open New England Championship hosted by Williams.
