Kennerley Named Athlete of the Week

Coast Guard Academy men’s soccer senior co-captain Greg Kennerley has been named the first CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week for his two-goal performance in the Bears 3-1 win over archrival Merchant Marine on Saturday.

Kennerley, who was the recipient of the #12 jersey during pregame ceremonies to honor LTJG Thomas Cameron, scored a penalty kick in the 55^th minute to break a 1-1 tie and gave the Bears an insurance goal in the 73^rd minute as Coast Guard beat Merchant Marine for the first time since 1999. The Bears were 0-11-1 in the previous 12 games against the Mariners.

The men’s soccer program will honor Cameron each season by picking a player that embodies what Thomas stood for and that player will wear the #12 for the season.
