Coast Guard Academy seniors Jimmy Knudsen and Greg Marshall have
been named the CGASPORTS.COM Athletes of the Week as the duo
combined for 50 points and 20 rebounds on Senior Day as the Bears
snapped an 18-game losing streak with a 64-58 win over Wheaton on
Sunday.
Knudsen finished with a career-high 26 points while tying a
career-high with 13 rebounds while Marshall had a season-high 24
points and tied a season-high with seven rebounds as the Bears won
their first New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic
Conference (NEWMAC) game of the season. It was Knudsen’s
first double-double of the season.
Earlier in the week, Marshall scored the 1,000th point
of his career making him the 19th member of the Coast
Guard men’s basketball 1,000 point club. He currently has
1,031 points which rank him 14th all-time.
For the week, Knudsen averaged 18 points and seven rebounds
while shooting 60.9 percent from the field (14-23). He made two of
four from 3-point range and was 6-for-6 from the foul line.
Marshall averaged 16 points and four rebounds in the 1-1 week for
the Bears.
Marshall leads the team with 13.6 points per game while Knudsen is
second with 9.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while leading the
team in field goal percentage (52.6).
