Mooney Named CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Freshman Kaitlyn Mooney has been named the CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week presented by First Command after breaking the school record and winning the 3000 at the Open New England Championship in 9:53.71 on Saturday.

Mooney becomes the first athlete in program history to win an Open New England Championship after running alone in the slow heat to take down an entire field of Division I runners.

Her time smashes the old school record by 18 seconds and gives her two school records in her first three career races as she set the mile record (4:59.42) at the Wheaton Invitational.

Coast Guard is back in action this weekend, running at the Dave Hemery Invitational hosted by Boston University and the MIT Invitational.
