Collins Named CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week
Coast Guard Academy senior Karli Collins has been named the
CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week as she had a huge week in which
she had 20 or more rebounds twice and tied the single-game school
record with 22 rebounds as Coast Guard handed Clark its first loss
of the season 72-59 on Saturday.
Collins averaged 12.3 points and 16.7 rebounds while shooting 52.5
percent from the field (12-23) in the three games last week. Coast
Guard went 1-2.
Coast Guard lost 76-75 in overtime at Framingham State in the
first game of the week, a game in which Collins had a career-high
tying 18 points and a then career-high 20 rebounds.
The Bears lost to Wheaton on Wednesday before Collins had 14
points and the school-record tying 22 rebounds leading Coast Guard
to it first conference win of the season at home over Clark.
Collins is averaging 8.6 points and leads the team and is second
in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic
Conference (NEWMAC) with 12.2 rebounds per game this season. She is
also shooting a team-high 55.6 percent from the floor, third best
in the conference.
Coast Guard is 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the NEWMAC. The Bears play
at MIT on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
