Coast Guard Academy freshman pitcher Kristine Kahl has been named the CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week.
Kahl was outstanding this week allowing just one earned run in
24 innings giving her a 0.29 ERA for the week while posting a
record of 3-1 and also recording her first collegiate save
She fired a one-hitter in the game one win over WPI on Saturday and then came in on relief to pitch the final five innings of game two and threw five scoreless innings allowing just three hits as the Bears won 3-2 over WPI.
Kahl began the week by throwing a complete game and not allowing an earned run while scattering nine hits in a 9-3 win over Western New England. She pitched the final inning of the game two win over Western New England to record her first collegiate save.
Kristine was the tough luck loser on Friday when she allowed just one earned run on seven hits in going the distance in a 2-0 loss to Babson.
Kahl allowed 21 hits in the 24 innings during the week, walked just four and struck out eight as the Bears moved closer to securing a NEWMAC tournament berth. She has a season record of 10-5 with a 2.15 ERA.
Coast Guard is now 16-11 overall and 6-6 in the NEWMAC and the
Bears need just one more win to secure a berth in the NEWMAC
tournament which begins on April 23rd at the two highest
