Jason is in his 18th season as Director of Athletic Media Relations at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Southard spent a year at Albertus Magnus College as the sports information director and a year at his alma mater Southern Connecticut State University as the assistant sports information director before arriving at the Academy.

He oversees the day-to-day publicity of the Bears 23 intercollegiate sports and maintains the department’s website.

Southard holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Southern Connecticut State University.

He serves as a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Convention Staff at the Division I Men’s Final Four and he is a member of the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun game day media relations staff.

Southard also been a member of the media relations staff for three Division I Women’s Final Fours as well as the 2008 MLB All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium.
