NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/4/12)--Coast Guard exploded for 14 runs in the fifth and six innings combined to break open a 4-1 game en route to a 25-3 win over Babson in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

In the sixth, Coast Guard scored eight runs on six hits while also taking advantage of two more Babson errors which resulted in four unearned runs. Eddie Kalankiewicz had two hits in the sixth, a single and an RBI double and the Bears led 18-1 after six innings.

Derek Petty (2-3), who received just four runs of support in his first three NEWMAC outings, winning 2-1 and losing a pair of 2-1 games, got plenty of support this afternoon. He went six innings and scattered eight hits while allowing an unearned run walking three and striking out six to get the win.

Babson starter Derek Richards (1-3) allowed ten runs, four earned in 4 2/3 innings to take the loss.

The Beavers drop to 10-10 overall and 6-5 in the NEWMAC.
