The Coast Guard baseball team has a new pitching coach in the 2014 season with the addition of Joe Witkowski to the coaching staff.
Joe signed as a free agent with the Houston Astros in 2011 after a successful collegiate career at St. John's University. He signed with the Washington Nationals as a pitcher and attended spring training before an injury ended his playing career last season.
We caught up with Joe to get his thoughts on how the season is going six games into the season. The Bears still have four more games to play at the Gene Cusic Classic in Ft. Myers, Florida before heading back north for the remainder of the season.
The team won their first game in Florida beating Salem State 7-4, but have dropped three straight after an 11-5 loss to Baruch on Monday.
Coast Guard is back in action on Wednesday when the Bears take on Elms at 4 p.m.
