NEW LONDON, Conn. – Sophomore Eric Vrissis has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his complete game performance in the final regular season conference game which lifted the Bears into the NEWMAC tournament.

Vrissis went the distance and allowed just six hits and one earned run while striking out a career-high eight as Coast Guard beat Emerson 7-2 at Victory Field to secure a berth in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament after not qualifying for the tournament in 2014.

Coast Guard, which earned the fifth seed, would go on to knock off fourth-seeded Babson 6-1 on Friday before falling to top-seeded MIT twice on Saturday.

The Bears will close out the season with a pair of non-conference road games this week. Coast Guard will play at Mass. Maritime on Tuesday at 3:30 before taking on Mitchell on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Dodd Stadium in Norwich.
