WORCESTER, Mass. -- Clark got a pair of outstanding pitching outings limiting Coast Guard to just one run as the Cougars swept the Bears 15-0 and 2-1 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader.
Clark improves to 16-20 overall and 7-10 in the NEWMAC while the Bears drop to 15-18 overall and 4-13 in conference play.
The Bears are back in action on Monday when they host Pine Manor at 3:30.
GAME ONE -- CLARK 15, COAST GUARD 0
Cal Slepkow allowed just two hits, both in the first inning, over seven innings walked one and struck out six.
Clark would score three runs in the second and score at least one run in six straight innings in the win.
The Cougars had 18 hits including five homers in the win while Tom Ankers had a single and Jeremy Lhotka doubled for the Bears in the first inning for the only Coast Guard hits.
Dustin Reeder took the loss for the Bears as he was touched for six earned run in 2 ⅓ innings.
GAME TWO -- CLARK 2, COAST GUARD 1
Nick Guarino pitched a complete game and allowed just one run on four hits while striking out 10 leading Clark to the sweep.
Brett Sullivan was the tough luck loser for the Bears as he allowed just two runs over eight innings, walked one and struck out six.
The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the fourth and added an insurance run in the fifth.
Coast Guard got on the board in the sixth when Ankers scored on an RBI fielder's choice by Luke Thompson.
