Resch Named NEFC Offensive Player of the Week

NEW LONDON, Conn.—Coast Guard senior quarterback Jon Resch has been named the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Coast Guard's 59-0 win over Fitchburg State.

Resch, who is second nationally in Division III with 370 yards of total offense per game, threw for 391 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for a score. All of this touchdowns came in the third quarter as Coast Guard scored 28 points to blow open a 10-0 halftime lead.

He threw a school-record long 96-yard touchdown pass to senior Pat Meggers, who finished with a school-record 211 receiving yards.

The previous school-record for longest pass play was in 1998 when Dave Yadrick hit Tom Wallin for 88 yards vs. Mass. Maritime.

Resch is 115 of 189 while leading the NEFC with 1,394 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season.

Coast Guard is 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the NEFC Bogan Division.
