Brown, Henning Earn ECAC Weekly Honors

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Junior wide receiver Collis Brown and sophomore kicker Tyler Henning have both been named the Corvias ECAC Northeast Division III Players of the Week.

Brown had a record setting day for the Bears in their 41-38 victory over Western New England on Saturday. He caught a single-game school-record 16 passes for 244 yard (another single-game mark) and scored a pair of touchdowns. He also rushed the ball once for a 10-yard gain. On his first touchdown catch, he made a remarkable one-handed catch over his back shoulder for a 35-yard touchdown grab to give the Bears a 6-0 lead just under three minutes into the game.

The Kingwood, Texas native currently leads the Bears with 29 receptions for 475 yards and has a team-best four touchdowns. He has also run the ball three times for 48 yards, including a touchdown. Brown currently leads the NEFC in receptions, receiving yards, receiving yards per game (95.0), and is tied for second in touchdown receptions.

Henning kicked terrifically in the Coast Guard victory to earn his second consecutive ECAC Special Teams Player of the Week honor. Henning made two of his three field goal tries, including a long of 35 and the game-winner in the final minute, and made all five of his extra point attempts. He also punted three times for a 39.0 yard average, including a long of 42 yards and pinned Western New England inside the 20 on another attempt.

Henning has been one of the most consistent kickers in all of Division III so far this season. The Cypress, Texas native has made eight of his 10 field goal tries (including a long of 44), all 14 of his extra points in addition to having punted 31 times for a tremendous 35.7-yard average including a long of 56 and has pinned opponents inside their own 20 on seven occasions.

Coast Guard stands a 2-3 overall on the season, but their 2-0 mark in NEFC play has them in a three-way tie with preseason favorites Salve Regina and Endicott atop the conference standings.

Coast Guard returns to action on Saturday, October 12th when they travel to Curry for an NEFC contest at 1:00 pm before coming home on Saturday, October 19th to host Maine Maritime in the annual homecoming game at 1:30 at Cadet Memorial Field.
