Coast Guard will host Nichols on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a New England Football Conference (NEFC) game at Cadet Memorial Field.
The Bears will wear their throwback uniforms to honor the 1963 team and their accomplishments as they do once each season.
The uniforms feature the same colors and design worn by the 1963 team coached by NFL Hall of Famer Otto Graham. The 1963 football team was the first to go undefeated and untied in Coast Guard Academy history. Coached by Graham, CGA finished 8-0 while giving up just 42 points, the lowest total surrendered by any football team in Academy history. The 1963 team advanced to a post-season Tangerine Bowl for the first time ever, where they lost to Western Kentucky 27-0.
The Bears are 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the NEFC while Nichols is 1-6 on the season with an 0-4 record in conference play.
Coast Guard beat Nichols 28-12 last season.
