TOP MOMENT #7 – FOOTBALL HOSTS FIRST NIGHT GAME IN 20 YEARS TO OPEN SEASON

Coast Guard played the first home night game since 1996 to open the season and beat Anna Maria 34-6 as senior Mike Clancy carried 14 times for 106 yards and two third quarter touchdowns, the first Coast Guard player to rush for over 100 yards since 2012.

The Bears beat Mass. Maritime in that last home night game 42-21 on Sept. 21st of 1996. This year's season opener also marked the first ever Thursday night opener for the Bears.

Junior wide receiver Kyle Jackson caught the first touchdown pass for his career, a 30-yard pass from junior quarterback Derek Victory in the first quarter and the Bears never looked back.

Sophomore running back Camden Cecchini, scored the first two touchdowns of his career with runs of two and three yards in the third quarter.

The Bears will also open the 2016 season on a Thursday night as Coast Guard travels to Anna Maria to kickoff the season on Sept. 1st.
