SALEM, Va. – Coast Guard senior punter Tyler Henning has been named a second team All-American by D3football.com. He becomes the first Coast Guard player to be named as high as second team, the first Coast Guard player since 2007 to be named to the team and just the sixth Bear to be named to the D3football.com All-America team.
In 2007, punter Jesse Harms and offensive lineman Nick Hartmann were named to the third team.
Henning led the NEFC and is sixth nationally with a 41.5 yard average per punt. He led the conference with 23 punts inside the 20-yard line and 13 punts of over 50 yards including a season-long 69 yard punt.
He was 19 of 20 converting a NEFC-best 95% of his extra points while making seven of 12 field goals this year to finish his career with a school-record tying 28 field goals while making 98 of 101 extra points in his four years.
Henning was a first team selection in the New England Football Conference (NEFC) and the ECAC North All-Star team.
This is the 17th annual D3football.com All-America team, one of two recognized by the NCAA for inclusion in their record book (along with the AFCA).
