The core values of the United States Coast Guard are Honor, Respect and Devotion to Duty. Last night, the entire Corps of Cadets wore unique royal blue t-shirts bearing the words "RESPECT, IT'S A CORPS VALUE" to demonstrate their commitment to Respect in word and deed – and by doing so made an unmistakable statement.
adidas America, shoe and apparel corporate partner for the CGA Athletics Division, contributed 1,100 t-shirts for the Corps of Cadets to wear on opening night in support of the "RESPECT, IT'S A CORPS VALUE" theme. By virtue of their corporate partnership, adidas outfits each of CGA's 25 varsity sports teams.
"adidas is a proud partner of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and we greatly value our ongoing relationship with the Academy," stated Greg Beckwith, adidas East Team Sales Regional Director, "particularly for its clear commitment to respect and inclusion."
Last night at Cadet Memorial Field, the Corps of Cadets showed their strength of their commitment to Respect in a fashion that will long be remembered.
"Everybody here at CGA plays an important role in forming a service ready Ensign, and we in Athletics were more than happy to play a part in this important celebration of Respect," commented Director of Athletics Tim Fitzpatrick. "Our adidas partnership is a key, foundational element that provides tremendous support for our total athletic program and greatly enhances the cadet-athlete experience. "
"We are most grateful that adidas came forward to enhance what was a great event at Cadet Memorial Field to kick off the 2017 CGA football season," Fitzpatrick said.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, September 9th when they travel to play Union (NY) College.
