NEW LONDON, Conn. – Junior cornerback Patrick Crowley has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Football Defensive Athlete of the Week for his performance in the Bears 20-9 win at Catholic on Saturday.
Crowley led the Coast Guard defense with a season and team-high 10 tackles, including seven solo tackles, one interception and one pass breakup.
His efforts secured the Bears' only interception, resulting in an insurance touchdown in the win.
Coast Guard has won three straight and is off to a 4-1 start for the first time since 2007 when the Bears started 1-1 and won the final seven games of the regular season. The Bears are also 2-0 in the NEWMAC.
The Bears play at Springfield in game between two NEWMAC unbeaten on Saturday at noon.
