Bears Coaching Staff to Wear Sneakers to Raise Cancer Awareness

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Coast Guard Academy men's and women's basketball coaching staffs will participate in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week this week.

Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week is a nationwide event when basketball coaches across the country unite for a common cause – saving lives from cancer! Coaches and their staff across the nation wear sneakers with their suits during games to raise awareness and help save lives from cancer by raising funds and encouraging people to educate themselves about cancer prevention, screening, and early detection.

Coast Guard head coach Kevin Jaskiewicz and his coaching staff will take part in the 15th annual event when the Bears play at Wheaton tonight at 6:00 and when his team hosts Babson on Saturday at 3:00.

Also, women's basketball head coach Alex Ivansheck and her staff will wear sneakers when the Bears host MIT on Saturday at 1:00.
