Bob enters his 33rd season at the Academy. He is the leader of the Bears nationwide recruiting efforts and through his direct efforts, the Bears have consistently brought in outstanding freshmen classes.
Bono was an assistant coach at St. Bernard’s High for 10 years prior to coaching at the Academy, as the Saints won a pair of state titles.
Bob has been a three-time selection to coach the Southeastern Connecticut entry in the Nutmeg games. His 1990 team won the gold medal.
Bono and his wife of 32 years, Doreen, have four children; Mike, Rob and twin daughters Jaclyn and Lisa.
