2013 Men's Crew Preview

The Coast Guard Academy men's crew team opens the spring portion of the season on Saturday at home on the Thames River against Wesleyan.

Mike Shugrue is serving as the interim head coach as a search for a full-time head coach is underway for the men's crew program.

The rowers have handled the mid-season coaching change very well and have not missed a beat with their training. They took full advantage of the winter training as well as the spring break training trip in DeLand, Florida.

The Bears appear to be more fit and stronger than they were a year ago at this time entering the spring season.

"The men's program remained focused throughout the winter months," said Shugrue. "Transitioning to Spring training brought about many positive changes to how we move the hulls. The team is committed and ready for competition."
