HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Bears opened the Fall season at the Head of the Riverfront.

This is the largest team Coast Guard has fielded in quite some time with 25 rowers and coxswains participating for the men's team.

For seven of the rowers this was their first race experience. "That was great, I loved it, you get an adrenaline rush and then you get to work it off," said sophomore Michael Rosenberg.

The Bears are an incredible young team with no juniors or seniors so each race, each experience is a building experience.

"We will not be satisfied until we are back in the mix with Trinity, Wesleyan and the other top schools in our league," said head coach Bill Randall. "That said – this was a step in the right direction and we continue to grow and improve!

The Varsity 8 was sixth of eight teams in 15:33.19 while the the 4's were 13th and 14th.
