Bears Fall to Palm Beach Atlantic 18-17 in OT

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic scored with ten seconds left in regulation to tie the game and beat the Bears 18-17 in overtime.

The Bears took a 17-16 lead with 45 seconds left, but could not hold on and drop to 0-2 on the young season.

Senior Eric Schmidt led Coast Guard with five goals and four assists while junior Pat Dreiss and senior Stuart Carley each added four goals for the Bears. Dreiss also had three assists.

Freshman Ryan Carpenter had 14 saves in goal for the Bears while junior Nick Chicoine won 28 of 34 faceoffs in the loss.

Coast Guard is back in action on Sunday at 3 p.m. when the Bears play at St. Andrews University in Palm Beach Garden, Florida to complete their two game southern swing.
