NORFOLK, Va. - Coast Guard dropped their second game of the season losing to Virginia Wesleyan 12-3 in nonconference action.
The Marlins were led by senior John Roth who had two goal and two assists. Senior Joe Papetti had two goals and an assist while junior Josh Currier, and freshman Matt Valencia had two goals each.
Coast Guard did all of their damage in the first half as they were only behind by one goal at the first intermission, 4-3.
The second half would be all Virginia Wesleyan as they out scored the Bears 8-0 taking the win 12-3 for their second win of the year (2-1).
Sophomore Ryan Carpenter made nine saves on 21 shots for his second loss of he year (0-2).
Senior Rory Finnegan had a great game for the Marlins making 12 saves on 15 shots and only allowing three goals. He is now 2-1 on the season.
Coast Guard returns to action on Friday, March 13th, when they play at Christopher Newport. Game time is 7:00 pm.
