Memories were made yesterday and we haven't even played the game yet. It started off by walking onto the field through the gates of Navy Marine Corps and letting the moment sink in.
It was funny, there was a group of young kids watching practice all with lacrosse sticks in hands. It made me think of the days I thought every college player was a superstar. Now we were those college players with kids looking up to us, almost like it was a full circle in the game of lacrosse. The team made sure to get a picture with the youngins, sign autographs and some guys even played catch afterwards.
After practice, as we were walking through downtown Annapolis in our herd of orange CGA polos, people were stopping us, saying good luck in the game. We even saw some alumni repping academy gear who took the weekend just to watch us play. Then out nowhere Admiral Rendon and Mrs. Rendon stopped by at dinner and gave the team a loud "GO BEARS!"
The support and opportunities we've gotten from the Coast Guard family so far have been unforgettable. I'm proud to be a part of this family. I know the team is ready for tomorrow.
