Make it a Trey for Johnson; Wins Third NEWMAC Weekly Honor

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard Academy junior Trey Johnson has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season.

Johnson and the Bears picked up a pair of wins including a win over Babson, previously unbeaten in NEWMAC play, to win a share of the regular season championship for the first time in program history.

He made 15 saves including 10 in the 8-6 win. The six goals by Babson was the least the Beavers scored in a conference game this season. He allowed just eight goals in 87:30 of playing time during the week.

Johnson leads the NEWMAC with a 6.33 goals against average, which ranks him in the top ten nationally and his career-high 12 wins are also tops in the conference.

The Bears finished the regular season with a program record 13 wins, going 13-3 and earning a share of the regular season NEWMAC championship with 6-1 record.

Coast Guard is the top-seed in the NEWMAC tournament and will host fourth-seeded MIT in the semifinals on Wednesday night at 7:00.
