The Bears finished 6-1 in the NEWMAC to earn a share of the regular season championship and also were the top seed for the conference tournament. The Bears advanced to the NEWMAC Championship game and finished with a school record 14 wins, to finish 14-4 on the season.

In the biggest win in program history, junior Anthony Wyler scored with 32 seconds left in the first overtime as the Bears upset No. 2/1 Wesleyan for the Bears first win over a top five opponent in program history. Wesleyan, was ranked second in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and first in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division III men's lacrosse poll at the time of the game and would go on to win the 2018 National Championship. It was a sign of good thing to come this season.

Junior Trey Johnson and sophomore Riley McNulty earned honorable mention All-America honors from the USILA (United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association). It was the first time that Coast Guard, in its fourth season as an NCAA program, had cadet-athletes named to the USILA Division III All-America team.

Sophomore Riley McNulty (second team), junior Tom Bleifuss (third team) and head coach Ray LaForte (Coach of the Year) were all recognized by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA).

Seven players earned NEWMAC All-Conference honors including junior Trey Johnson being named Co-Defensive Player of the Year and LaForte being named Coach of the Year. Johnson was joined on the NEWMAC first team by sophomores McNulty and Ryan Gochar. Earning second team honors were juniors Wyler, Tom Bleifuss and Connor Ellis and sophomore Justin Edwards. It is the third time Bleifuss has been selected while McNulty, Ellis and Wyler both earn the honors for the second time in their career.
