Burns Goes Back-to-Back as NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Coast Guard sophomore goal keeper Richie Burns has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week after not allowing a goal for the second straight week.

He did not allow a goal in 158:47 this week as Coast Guard posted a pair of shutouts to improve to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in the NEWMAC, its best start ever in conference play.

Burns was outstanding on Saturday as he registered his third shutout with a 1-0 win over Clark with nine saves.

He is 6-1 on the season with a 0.43 goals against average and three shutouts.
