CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sebastian Simon scored a pair of goals leading MIT to a 3-0 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
The Bears drop to 5-8-3 overall and 1-4-1 in the NEWMAC while MIT improves to 6-6-2 overall and 1-3-2 in conference play.
Simon scored in the 19th minute for the only goal of the first half.
The Engineers added a goal from Loukas Carayannopoulos in the 69th minute before Simon added an insurance goal with 6:10 left to close the scoring.
Jeremy Cowham made four saves to register the shutout for MIT while Dakota Harich (3-6-2) had two saves in goal for Coast Guard. MIT outshot the Bears 12-10.
The game featured 40 fouls (25 on MIT) and four yellow cards, two on each team.
Coast Guard is back in action on Tuesday night at UMass Dartmouth in the final non-conference game of the season at 7:00.
