BOSTON, Mass.-- Sophomores Robbie Fugett and Mike Daunt scored two goals to lift Coast Guard men's soccer 2-1 over Emerson on Saturday afternoon in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action. The Bears are now 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the NEWMAC, while Emerson drops to 2-5-1 on the season and 0-2 in the conference.
Fugett tallied his fifth goal of the season in the 52nd minute with an unassisted goal to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. Daunt extended the Bears lead, 2-0 in the 73rd minute with his fifth of the season.
Sophomore RJ Dziejma cut the deficit, 2-1 for Emerson with his second goal of the season in the 88th minute with help from senior Gavin Faucette.
Emerson held a 14-13 advantage in shots, and Coast Guard had an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Coast Guard senior goalkeeper Dakota Harich recorded a career-high 10 saves in the victory and is now 3-3 on the season. Emerson junior goalkeeper David Kemp made five saves in the loss for the Lions.
The Bears are back in action on Tuesday, October 1 against Westfield State at 4:00 PM.
