NEW LONDON, Conn. – Sophomore Christian Brindamour picked up three wins to lead the Bears to a pair of victories in a dual meet with Providence College and WPI this afternoon, giving the Bears their fifth consecutive win.
Brindamour was the top finisher in the 50m freestyle with a time of 21.49 and also finished first in the 100m freestyle and tied for the top spot in the 100m backstroke. Brindamour finished the 100m freestyle in 48.18 and the 100m backstroke in 55.55.
Sophomore Derrian Duryea also picked up two wins for the Bears, winning the 100m and 200m breaststroke in 1:01.06 and 2:15.05, respectively. Duryea also teamed up with senior Kevin Smit and juniors Barrett Johannsen and Jacob Kramb to win the 200m medley relay with a time of 1:40.34.
Smit and Johannsen also picked up wins for Coast Guard. Smit took home the 200m freestyle with a time of 1:47.07 while Johannsen was the top finisher in the 100m butterfly, finishing in 54.02. Sophomore Ryan Buys came in third in the 100m butterfly, coming in at 55.60.
Junior Marco Tinari also had a pair of victories in the 500m and 1000m freestyle events. Tinari finished the 500m freestyle in 4:57.65 and led to the Bears to a clean sweep in the 1000m freestyle with a time of 10:10.22. Senior Nick Poehler placed second in both events finishing the 500m in 5:00.47 and the 1000m in 10:17.17. Junior Marc McAndrew completed the sweep in the 1000m, placing third with a time of 10:39.09.
Sophomore Tim Early was the top finisher in the 100m butterfly coming in at 2:01.54 while Morseth picked up a third place finish in the 200m backstroke with a time of 2:01.26.
Freshman Andrew Anderson finished in second place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events posting scores of 200.25 and 227.70, respectively.
