NEW LONDON, Conn.--Coast Guard had nine first or second place finishers, but fell to #1 MIT by a 137-91 margin. On the season Coast Guard's record drops to 6-2.
In swimming events, two different Coast Guard student-athletes posted victories. Sophomore Christian Brindamour (Men's 50-yard Freestyle) and sophomore Derrian Duryea (Men's 100-yard Breaststroke) were both victorious for the Bears as freshman Andy Anderson led a Coast Guard sweep in both the men's 1- and 3-meter Diving.
Coast Guard also had five second place finishers at the meet. The second place finishers were freshman Timothy Dion (400-yard Individual Medley), senior Kyle Smith (1-meter Diving, 3-meter Diving), junior Alex Dona (100-yard Freestyle), and junior Marco Tinari (500-yard freestyle).
At the meet, pool records were set in two different events. The MIT 200-yard Medley Relay team finished in a time of 1:53.0 and in the men's 400-yard Individual Medley freshman Alexander Lednev of MIT finished in a time of 4:08.04.
Next up for the Bears will be a 12:00 noon match-up next Saturday against rival Merchant Marine Academy.
