NEWTON, Mass.-Junior Christian Brindamour won a pair of individual events and was a part of two winning relay teams to lead the Coast Guard men's swimming and diving team to a 188-100 victory against Wheaton on Saturday. With the victory the Bears improve to 3-0 on the season while the loss drops Wheaton to 1-1.
Brindamour picked up victories in both the 50 and 100 freestyles with times of 21.45 and 48.83, respectively. He was also a part of the 400 medley relay team that set the tone for the Bears in the opening event. Also on that team were freshman Carl Fuhs, junior Ryan Buys, and senior Barrett Johannsen as they won the event in a time of 3:38.07. The 400 freestyle relay team of Brindamour, Buys, senior Marco Tinari, and freshman Londen Thomas also won their event, with a time of 3:16.18.
Thomas and Fuhs were each multi-event winners for the Bears as well. Thomas raced to victories in both the 500 and 1000 freestyle event with times of 4:55.16 and 10:01.31, respectively. Fuhs was victorious in both the 100 breaststroke (1:10.35) and the 200 breaststroke (2:16.15).
Junior Tim Early won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:02.48 while Buys won the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.13.
In the diving events sophomore Andy Anderson won both boards. Anderson was first in the 1-meter dive with a final score of 251.17 and the 3-meter dive with a final score of 308.10. His 3-meter score is an NCAA qualifying score.
Coast Guard returns to action on Saturday, November 16th when they travel to Providence to take on Providence and WPI at 11:00 am.
