NEW LONDON, Conn.-Coast Guard sophomore Ben Morseth has been named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference men's swimmer of the week for his performance at Wesleyan on Saturday. It is the second time Morseth has been named Swimmer of the Week by the NEWMAC, having also been honored on November 4th.
Morseth had a major hand in leading the Coast Guard team to a convincing 172-108 victory over Wesleyan winning three individual events and swimming lead off for the winning 200-medley relay team.
Morseth took home individual titles in both the 100- and 200-backstroke with times of 55.72 and 1:57.91, respectively. The Louisiana native also claimed a victory in the 200 IM finishing in 1:59.94. He swam the leadoff leg of the 200 medley relay team which posted a winning time of 1:38.66 to help the Bears continue their dominance over Wesleyan in dual meets.
Coast Guard returns to action when they compete at the NEWMAC Championships from February 20th through February 23rd at WPI.
