Pool Records Fall in Senior Day win for Men's Swimming

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard set a pair of pool records in relays while junior Chasse Sodemann tied a pool record in the 100 breaststroke as the Bears won every event to highlight a 219-65 Senior Day win over Clark.

The Bears 200 medley relay of junior Patrick Jackson, Sodemann, senior Ross Garrett and sophomore Joe Rodriguez won with a pool record time of 1:34.19 while the 200 freestyle relay team of senior Brandon Ledford, sophomore John Pompay, freshman Tyler Dominick and Rodriguez won in pool record time of 1:25.11.

Sodemann tied the Coast Guard pool record with a time of 57.77 to win the 100 breaststroke held by Derrian Duryea.

Sophomore Drew Cheneler won the 1-meter diving with a score of 276.67 while freshman Marshall Seguin the 3-meter event (285.90) both qualifying for the NCAA Regional Championship.

Junior Taylor Rowe won both the 200 freestyle (1:46.98) and the 500 freestyle (4:46.33) for the Bears.

Also winning events for Coast Guard were freshman Josh Roh won the 1,000 freestyle (10:07.89), senior Andrew Campbell won the 100 backstroke (54.69), freshman John Feller won the 200 butterfly (2:01.16), Ledford won the 50 freestyle (22.31), Rodriguez won the 100 freestyle (48.03), Jackson won the 200 backstroke (1:59.09), junior Dan Moreno won the 200 breaststroke (2:17.58), Garrett won the 100 butterfly (52.11) and freshman Eric Fuhs won the 200 IM (2:01.47).

The Bears improved to 5-2 in dual meets close out the dual meet portion of the season on Saturday against Division I Fairfield and host Wesleyan at 1:00.
