Rodriguez & 200 Medley Relay Earn Honorable Mention All-America Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. –  Sophomore Joe Rodriguez earned honorable mention All-America honors and was part of the 200 medley relay which did the same to highlight the first day of the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.

Rodriguez placed 16th in the 50 freestyle in his first appearance at the NCAA Championship with a time of 20.52 in the finals. He was 13th in the morning preliminaries with a time of 20.50.

The Bears 200 medley relay team of junior Patrick Jackson, junior Chasse Sodemann, senior Ross Garrett and Rodriguez placed 13th with a time of 1:31.55. The relay team swam a 1:31.42 to place 12th in the preliminaries on Wednesday morning.

The 200 medley relay set the school record and placed third at the NEWMAC Championship with a time of 1:30.71 this season.

Also for the Bears, junior Taylor Rowe placed 21st in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:32.12. He won the NEWMAC Championship in the event in each of the last two seasons. He was 26th in the event at the NCAA Championships last season.

Freshman Eric Fuhs placed 39th in the 200 IM with a time of 1:54.03 in his NCAA Championship debut. He set the school record in the event with a time of 1:51.42 this season.
