#22 Bears Cruise to Season Opening Win

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard, ranked 22nd nationally, won all 13 events to beat Colby Sawyer 146-33 in the Bears season opener.

The Bears 400 medley relay of Matthew Fritz, Chasse Sodemann, Patrick Jackson and Joe Rodriguez won with a time of 3:34.46 while the 200 freestyle relay of Tyler Dominick, Daniel Jenkins, John Pompay and Rodriguez won with a time of 1:26.13.

Rodriguez won the 50 free in 20.87, the second fastest Division III time in the nation this season.

Michael Blake won the 1,000 freestyle (10:17.06), Josh Roh won the 200 free (1:48.58), Eric Fuhs won the 400 IM (4:24.78), CJ Omweg won the 100 butterfly (54.53), John Pompay won the 100 freestyle (48.59), Devin McClure won the 100 backstroke (54.45), Taylor Rowe won the 500 freestyle (4:57.53), Sodemann won the 100 breaststroke (59.35).

Marshall Seguin won both the 1-meter board (255.22) and the 3-meter event (245.47) for the Bears.

Coast Guard is back in action on Oct. 27th in a tri-meet with Springfield at the University of Rhode Island at 12:30.
