#12 Bears Cruise Past Springfield in Season Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – All-Americans Joe Rodriguez and Eric Fuhs each won two individual events and were part of a winning relay leading the Bears, ranked 12th nationally, to a 180-107 season opening win over host Springfield.

Rodriguez won the 50 freestyle (20.84) and the 100 freestyle (48.16) while Fuhs won the 100 breaststroke (1:00.40) and the 200 breaststroke (2:13.99) while the Bears 200 freestyle relay of Matthew Fritz, Fuhs, Tyler Dominick and Rodriguez won with a time of 1:37.71.

Also for the Bears, Samuel Chapman won the 1,000 freestyle (10:11.45) in his collegiate debut while CJ Omweg won the 100 backstroke (56.43), Derek Ledford won the 200 butterfly (2:00.61), Devin McClure won the 200 backstroke (1:59.14) and John Feliz won the 500 freestyle (4:57.98).

The Bears are back in action on Friday night at Wheaton at 6:00.
