Bears Win Third Straight; Beat Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(4/7/12)--Senior Greg Mitchell, junior Blake Maurer and sophomore Josh Fischer each won singles and doubles matches leading Coast Guard to a 7-2 win over Springfield in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.

With the win, Coast Guard is now 7-2 overall, 2-0 in NEWMAC play. Springfield is now 5-9 overall, 1-2 in the conference.
Mitchell won at #1 singles 7-5, 6-2, Fischer won at #2 singles 4-6, 7-6, 10-8 while Maurer won at #4 singles 6-2, 6-0.

Senior Nick Martin won at #3 singles 1-6, 6-1, 6-0 while freshman Jon Lightner won 6-4, 6-7, 10-4 at #6 singles as Coast Guard won five of the six singles matches.

Mitchell and Martin won 8-5 at #1 doubles while Maurer and Fischer won 8-6 at #2 doubles for Coast Guard.
