Scalesse Named NEWMAC Track Athlete of the Week for Second Straight Week

NEW LONDON, Conn.-Coast Guard junior Adam Scalesse has been named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the second successive week, as announced by the conference.

Scalesse competed at Florida Relays Friday afternoon, participating in the 110 meter and 400 meter hurdles. Scalesse was the only DIII competitor among the field of 52 competitors in the high hurdles and 48 athletes in the 400 hurdles consisting of mostly Division I talent.

Scalesse was 5th in his heat of 8 runners in the 110 hurdles. He ran 14.32 and placed 32 overall in the field of 52 hurdlers. This time reaffirms his #1 ranking in the 110 hurdles in Division III.

Later in the day, Scalesse returned to action in the 400 meter hurdles posting a season best time of 53.31 finishing 27th out of 48 competitors. His performance in the 400 hurdles ranks him as the #4 hurdler in the nation (Division III) in that event.

Coast Guard will return to action on Saturday, April 11th when they host WPI and Springfield for the annual CGA Tri-Meet.
