Scalesse, Laplante Honored by NEWMAC

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Senior Lukas Laplante and classmate Adam Scalesse both earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly honors.

Scalesse earned NEWMAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors as he bettered his mark in the 110 hurdles by running a Division III best 14.27 at the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton as he remains ranked first in the nation in the event. He also finished fifth in the 400 hurdles in 53.54.

Laplante, the catcher on the baseball team, had quite a week to earn Player of the Week honors. He hit .545 going 6 for 11 during the week. He hit the first two homers of his career in a 6-5 win over Clark as the Bears swept a doubleheader in the final home games of his career. He had a 1.182 slugging percentage for the week, scored four runs and drove in four more.
