SPRINGFIELD, Mass.-Senior Adam Scalesse and Ben Wolhaupter each won individual events to lead the Coast Guard men's track and field team to a fourth place finish at the 2014 NCAA Division III New England Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Scalesse placed first in 110 hurdles, running 14.36 and finished fourth in the 400 hurdles crossing the line in 53.99. Wolhaupter was Coast Guard's other top finisher as the winner in the pole vault jumping 15 feet, 9 inches.
The 4x400 was the top relay running third with a time of 3:20.90 (Ben Hannon, Kelcey Smith, Ryan Hub and James Dawkins). The 4x800 was seventh with a time of 7:53.46 (Andrew Scheffey, Ben Chapman, James Martin, and Jordan Lee). Junior James Dawkins was 4th in the 400 running 49.30.
CGA placed fourth scoring 62 points, the team's highest finish since placing third in 2008. MIT won the meet 159.83, Bates was second with 79.33 and Bridgewater State was third 67 points.
