Bears Season Comes to an End at National Championship

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Coast Guard men's 4x400 team's season came to an end at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship hosted by North Central College.

The relay team of sophomore Nicholas Frystak and Jacob Pawlina and juniors Luke Rehfuss and Raeford Penny finished in 12th place with a time of 3:22.81.

The Bears qualified for the NCAA Championship on the last day of the indoor regular season running their qualifying time this past weekend at the Tufts Last Chance meet beating out WPI for the final spot by .04 seconds.

"I'm really proud of what these four guys have accomplished this season," said head coach Ethan Brown. "They put in a tremendous amount of work to get here and made some big improvements this season. Getting to Nationals was a great experience for them. Now the key is recovering and shifting our focus towards outdoors."

Coast Guard opens their outdoor season at the University of Richmond Fred Hard Invitational on March 24th and 25th.
