Rehfuss, Davis Lead Bears at Albany Classic

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Coast Guard men's track & field team competed at the University of Albany Spring Classic this past weekend.

Freshman Josiah Davis and senior Luke Rehfuss were the top finishers for the Bears as they both took second place finishes. Davis ran a personal best of 4:07.74 in the 1500 while Rehfuss ran 56.00 in the 400 hurdles.

Coast Guard had three top-10 finishers in the 200 led by junior Jacob Pawlina in fourth place (22.44). Coming in behind Pawlina were juniors Michael Bishop in fifth place (22.49) and Nick Frystak in eighth (22.77).

In the 400, junior Benjamin Taminger took sixth place, crossing the line in 51.90. Sophomore Miguel Moroles just missed a top-10 finish by taking 11th place (52.74).

Wrapping up the individual events on the track was junior Sydney Johnson in the 800 (1:59.94, 5th) and freshman Matt Doyle (15:25.95, 5th) and junior Colton Atkinson (15:40.38, 13th).

In the relays, the Bears placed third in both the 4x100 (senior Raeford Penny, Bishop, Moroles, Pawlina) and 4x400 (Pawlina, Rehfuss, Taminger, Penny). The 4x100 ran 43.87 while the 4x400 ran 3:25.21.

The Bears are back in action on Saturday, April 28th at the NEWMAC Championship hosted by MIT.
