KINGS POINT, N.Y.-- Coast Guard men's track and field defeated Merchant Marine Academy, 114-60 on the road on Wednesday evening. The Bears finished in first place in 15 out of 17 events.
Michael Bishop had two first place finishes. In the 100m he finished in 11.32 and in the 200m he finished 22.81.
Javon Wingate finished first overall in two events, for his first ever overall finish. In the long jump, he was 21'6" (6.59m) and in the high jump he was 5'7" (1.73m).
Ben Zarlengo had two top performances. He threw 175'3" (53.44m) in the hammer throw and 158'1" in the discus.
Josiah Davis took first in the 1500m with a time of 4:09.28.
Miguel Moroles finished first in the 400m with a time of 51.70.
Adam Jibril-Barnes topped the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.69.
In the 5000m Greg Costello finished first at 16:10.50.
The 4x100 relay team of Moroles, Bishop, James Duren, and Alexander Jung, finished first with a time of 43.89. The 4x400 relay of Jacob Pawlina, Nicholas Frystak, Jung, and Matt Kerst, finished first overall at 3:35.82.
Pawlina took a first place finish with the javelin, 168'7" (51.42m).
In the shot put, John Buchert finished at 40'2" (12.24m)
Edward Carroll finished first in the triple jump at 40'9" (12.47m).
The Bears are back in action this Saturday, April 6 at home for the Coast Guard Invitational.
