NEW LONDON, Conn.--Greg Ahnrud has been named
an assistant men's and women's track and field coach at the Coast
Ahnrud served as an assistant coach for both cross country and track & field at Rhode Island College from 2009-2012 where the women's team set
18 individual records and five relay school records and the men's team set
13 individual records and eight relay school records during his time at the school.
The last two seasons, the RIC men's outdoor track team had its best finishes at the New England Championships, placing 10th in 2011 and seventh last season of the over 50 schools competing.
Ahnrud competed for the Rhode Island College cross country and track programs from 2006-08 after transferring in from Assumption College. During his time as an athlete at RIC, he served as a team captain and was a middle distance event specialist where he earned New England Alliance Conference honors several times. During the cross country season, he was one of their top runner's at the conference and regional stages.
Coach Ahnrud holds both a USATF Level 1 and Level 2 (distance) coaching certificate. His coaching background is also highlighted with experience in strength training and gait analysis.
He received his bachelor's degree in political science and history from Rhode Island College in 2008. Ahnrud is currently working on his master's degree in public administration from the University of Rhode Island.
