Bears Earn NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award

The New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the Coast Guard Men's Cross Country team winners of the 2012 Sportsmanship Award. This is the third time in the past seven years that the Bears have won the award, also earning the distinction in the 2006 and 2008 seasons.

"Receiving the sportsmanship award say a lot about our team," said head coach Ethan Brown. "Throughout the season, they have been first rate competitors and carried themselves with class and professionalism. I was pleased with their performances at the NEWMAC Championships and this is certainly another piece to our season that I am proud of."

The Bears were led to a fourth place finish in the NEWMAC Championships last weekend by a strong performance by junior Gary Ezzo. Ezzo, who finished third overall, completed the 8k course in 25:54.96 and earned All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season.

Coast Guard will travel to Williams College Saturday, November 3rd to compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships.
