NEW LONDON, Conn.—Coast Guard Academy senior Gary Ezzo has earned a berth at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships to be held at Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana on Saturday.
Ezzo was one of 56 individuals, the first seven from each region who are not part of one of the 32 qualifying teams, selected for the championship. It will be his first appearance at the NCAA Cross Country Championship.
He earned All-New England honors for the second straight season on Saturday with a 17th place finish with a time of 25:09 as Coast Guard finished 10th, its best finish since 2005 when the Bears placed ninth as a team.
Ezzo earned All-conference honors for the third straight season as he placed third for the second straight season leading Coast Guard to a second place finish at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship meet at Franklin Park in Boston on November 3rd.
The NCAA Championship race will begin at 12:30 p.m CST.
