LEHIGH, Penn. - The men's cross country team finished in 30th place at the 42nd annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.
The overall winner in the college men's brown section was Shippensburg University with 57 points. The Bears seven man team finished with 804 points.
Junior Caleb Teachout was the top finisher for Coast Guard as he crossed the 8k course in 26:07 putting him in 121st place. Junior Gill Hill (26:17) was ten seconds behind Teachout crossing the line in137th place.
Sophomore Andrew Brown was the next harrier across the line for the Bears as he finished in 206th place in a time of 27:03.
The final two finishers for Coast Guard were sophomore Christian Fields (27:52) in 246th place and senior Jacob Yallowitz (28:03) in 250th place.
This year's Paul Short Run contained three nationally-ranked top 25 teams in Division I in the men's college draw, with No. 7 Villanova, No. 8 Iona and No. 15 Georgetown. On the women's side, No. 4 Georgetown was the lone nationally-ranked team represented among Division I institutions.
Three Division II schools on the men's side (Lock Haven, Shippensburg, Indians (Pa.) were ranked in the nation's top 25, along with one (Bloomsburg) from the women's side.
Eight programs from both the men's and women's sides Division III were represented at this year's meet, including the three-time reigning national champions, and current unanimous No. 1 women's team, Johns Hopkins.
Coast Guard returns to action next Saturday, October 10th at the James Early Invitational hosted by Westfield State.
