MANCHESTER, Conn. – Coast Guard put their first five finshers in the top 15 as the Bears opened with a second place finish at the Trinity Invitational at Wickham Park.
Coast Guard also matched the women by topping Merchant Marine and giving the Bears their second point of the year in the race for the Superintendent's Trophy.
Host Trinity came in first with 25 points while Coast Guard scored 50 for their second place finish. The Mariners were third with 98 points.
Sophomore Jacob Panning was the next harrier to finish for Coast Guard running 17:24.2 (11th place). Just over a second behind him was junior Alex Kearney finishing the 5K course in 17:25.8 for 12th place followed by freshman Matthew Doyle in 13th place (17:27.1).
Wrapping up the top seven for the Bears was senior Timothy O'Loughlin in 20th place (17:49.7) and junior Ryan Brumm in 22nd place (17:53.5).
Coast Guard is back in action Saturday, September 23rd when they travel to Williamstown, Massachusetts for the Purple Valley Invitational hosted by Williams.
